Synopsis

"Mum sits down at the table with heavy, empty eyes.
Lilly looks at her.
Then she kicks the fork against the plate.
KLINK!
Mum looks down, startled.
“Lilly! There you are!”, she shouts. What happened?
“Everything became teeny weeny”, Lilly says.
With her teeny weeny voice.
“My legs
And my hands
And also my heart”.
Mum is all quiet. Her mouth is open.
“What are we going to do?”, she says desperately.
“I don’t know”, Teeny Weeny Lilly says.
“But it is perhaps best if you switch off your phone!”.
Mum nods. Many successive nods.
“And turn off the vent. It has to be completely quiet here”.
Mum runs around the flat.
Switches off. Shuts down. Listens."

It is a normal day in Lilly's life and she is trying to do well. But her Mum is easily distracted and as the day passes Lilly shrinks every time her Mum fails to notice her. In the end, she is so small that she can stand in her Mum's hand. Thankfully, the process is promptly reversed when her Mum joins Lilly in her playful world and Lilly becomes her normal self again.

Reviews

"A book that gets its point across in an effective way ... recommended to all libraries" – (Review from Library Organisation)

" Entertaining and in no way moralising - despite its important message" – (Kulturforbørn.dk (Culture for Kids))

" A sweet and slightly heartbreaking book" – (Børnenes Bøger (The Books of the Children))

Personal note from the author

I’ve always loved playing with words. Since I knew how to write, I have written and drawn stories. In January 2015, my first picture book was published and since then, more arrived. I also publish children’s songs with my husband, Leif. He writes the music and I write the lyrics. In 2011, we won the title “Children’s Song of the Year” with the song, The Grossest Thing I Know. When I write my books, I write in no particular genre and the stories are always quite different and aimed at different age groups. I have a gut feeling when a story is worth telling.
